Last week was very interesting: the Dutch trade mission was in Serbia! With a very tight schedule, we visited three regions important for the production of berries. The agriculture team of the embassy organized a trade mission in the soft fruit sector in Serbia. Eleven Dutch companies have participated and together with the embassy team they have visited different parts of Serbia. The program consisted out of a series of company visits, field trips and meetings. During the trade mission blueberry-, raspberry-and strawberry- fields have been the main focus. The outcomes are really positive and promise further development in this specific sector. Trade missions can provide a good insight into the opportunities of a promising market. The annual Autumn Business Breakfast organized by our member Confida and supported by the Dutch-Serbian Business Association, Belgian-Serbian Business association, German-Serbian Chamber of Commerce (AHK Serbia) and Commercial Section of the Austrian Embassy and five other business associations, was held on November 07, 2019. The presentation and panel discussion on the topic “Changes in tax regulations – what can we expect in 2020?” were held by members of the Tax team of CONFIDA Consulting. Within this topic, the following aspects were addressed: the most important amendments to the Law on VAT and other novelties in tax regulations, tax treatment for lump sums entrepreneurs, tax relief for new employees, as well as the New Accounting Law and Audit Law, which will be in force from 2020. On Monday, 04.11.2019, the Board of the Directors of the DSBA met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands Mr. Stef Blok, and the Director General for European Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands Anita van den Ende, who were accompanied by HE . Mr. Gilles Beschoor Plug, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Serbia, and Mr. Oliver Sharov, Senior Economic Advisor to the Embassy of the Netherlands in Serbia, who was one of the most responsible for the organization of this meeting. We have a sad news to share with you. Our Board member, and one of the founders of DSBA, Cees Hilhorst has suddenly passed away on 23.08.2019. Cees was a dear friend of ours and he will be greatly missed. Bojan Lekovic, President of the Board, sent a condolence card to Cees’s family in behalf of the DSBA.
Last night Board of the directors of the Dutch-Serbian Business Association organized a dinner in honor of H.E. Mr. Henk van den Dool, who is leaving Serbia after four years. Beautiful evening in honor of the man who significantly supported the foundation and the work of the Association, whom we look as the godfather of the DSBA and who will always be more than welcome in Serbia.
One more successful seminar, this time covering "The latest trends in tax audit" was organised on June 17th at the Impact Hub, Belgrade, by our member Confida Consulting Serbia team and supported by the Dutch-Serbian Business Association, the Belgian Serbian Business association and the Swiss-Serbian Chamber of Commerce. During an informal and interactive presentation the associations’ member companies had a chance to hear useful information concerning tax audit issues and to ask questions and share their experiences and discuss different topic related issues with the Confida tax experts. The seminar was followed by an informal networking cocktail.
Members of 13 bilateral business associations present in Serbia, on May 23, 2019, held the third International Networking Cocktail at the Crowne Plaza Hotel.
